Hey team!  Here’s the workout, zooms, and a heads up on couple things.  GEAR RETURN: we’re shooting for a Monday the 11th re-opening date, so Sunday is the opportune time to get the gear you’ve borrowed back into the gym.  And by Sunday I mean 1:00pm or later, just roll on through, I’ll have the garage door open and we’ll just take a second say hi, grab a foot tap, and then unload your gear back into the gym.  I might have you help me put it back where I’d like it to go, but otherwise, easy day.  Sorry I can’t help earlier during the morning, so plan for a PM drop off!

Zooms after the 11th: we’ll keep running the 11am zoom for as long as it seems useful, could be years 🙂

Coaching Additions!  Welcome Evin and John Franklin to our coaching crew!  Evin you know and love from years of dedication and sharing class with us, she’s been putting in WORK over the break and has been attending our on going coaches meetings and will be jumping into the mix, be excited for her, and it’ll be great!  John is a transplant from California where he coached for a friends gym down there, he’s also been attending our coaches meetings over the break and it’s been fun to watch him do his thing, welcome him and bring him into the fold as I know you will!  His heart is in the right place for us, and I’m excited for you guys to get to know him better!

EVENTS!

Team EVA on the 16th!  We’ll have our regular 4 classes that morning, but pick a buddy and communicate with them and come together (register and all that of course) and then we’ll break up this humongous workout between the two of you and we’ll have fun smashing it!

Snowshoeing on Sunday the 17th!! 11:00am Lanham Lake

I think we’re all learning more and more about what we can and can’t do with ‘Rona stuff, and so let’s go outside and enjoy each other company while getting tired and happy 🙂 Snowshoeing!  I think it’s fun, mostly because I hate skiing because I want my knees to remain surgery free, and I have no affinity for sliding whatsoever.  Lanham Lake is the place, it’s Stevens Pass, quick jaunt up Hwy 2, check it out, be there at 11:00 or be square!  It’ll probably be a zoo, chains and all that are probably smart.  [If you want to read past here, please do, be advised, it’ll get a little “rant-y” so hang on!]  We’ve done stuff like this in the past and had some disastrous results (client got his first atrial fibrillation episode whilst hiking, decided to turn back on his own without telling anyone, obviously got lost and things went badly after that.  He lived thankfully, but jeez Louise.  Going outside is hard, and has an element of danger with it, from just getting there, to then being there.  Take stock of yourself, make sure you’re good to go, if you’re not or can’t be, please we love you, don’t show up.  I hate divisions within the gym, but if you’re trying to find a transcendently difficult experience with this, you’re in the wrong place, it’s a 3 mile loop, your feet will be very heavy with boots and snowshoes, it’ll be harder than you think to breathe in the cold air, layering is important, on and on and on.  I’m looking to have a fun time, with zero drama, or bad vibes.  So no grumpypants’ allowed, and it’s terribly unfair to make me your porter or concierge in case of lack of planning or mishap!  I can totally do that stuff, it’s just gonna cost you $$$ to have me plan every detail to a T and provide all sorts of stuff.  So since it’s free and I just wanna get out and spend time with everyone having gun, drive yo’self, be on time or communicate well if you’re to be late, and reap the consequences, have all the gear you think you might need for yourself, including the snowshoes, (your mom’s not gunna be there with extra hot cocoa), and make sure that you’re good to go with this activity physically!  I’d love to have a head count leading up to going, just text me with a “yo Jess, I’m in” and that’ll be perfect :). Big Hugs!!

The Workout:

Overhead Squat for Max

Home Version:

The best we can do here guys is get what you have that’s heavy, like ladders, kids etc.  And hoist it and do it for quality reps.  A bit of Handstand work added in will make sense because the weight is typically too light with home gear.  Getting the bar to the right spot is always hard, but that’s part of the fun :). In essence, come to zoom!  Carrie or I will be teaching, and we’ll make it happen for sure.  Expect tough leg times and good overhead work.

Rowing:

10 Cycles of:

:40 seconds work

:10 seconds rest

Have a 1500m time?  Use that pace!  If not, just a little faster than your 2K should do!
