Hey guys! Are we starting to have trouble getting our workouts started? I know I am! Has “couch lock” set in? Or are you just totally engrossed in your multitude of projects that you now have time for? Hobbies in full swing? Getting serious on learning how to use slide rule? Building a new deck and fully understanding the meaning of being a redneck?
Here’s the epiphany: the time commitment to be healthy (fit enough to be free of disease), look good, and perform well at life is staggeringly low compared to the commitment it takes to do hobbies. Gardening: O Lord, hours. Car Maintenance or Upgrades: too many hours. House Projects (you know, bathrooms, move walls etc. TILE): don’t get me started :). Fitness? Seriously like 45 minutes. If you’re quick to warm-up and have a high skill level I bet it’s closer to 30! Basically, get to it, don’t miss it, find a way to get enough reps to gasp for air and make your muscles scream for mercy basically every day. Attend the Zoom classes! FaceTime with your friends and do workouts! Ride your bike (hard, and stop to do push-ups)! Go run hills, practice your jump roping! You just have to resign yourself to “Getting Nasty” once a day most of the time, and that that tiny time investment can render you invincible to chronic diseases no one wants to get: Heart Disease, COPD, Type 2Diabetes, Cancers, Strokes yeesh.
Well Meaning Client: “Hey Jess, the Zoom classes aren’t EXACTLY when I’d like. I’d super appreciate 7:20AM and/or 4:50PM Whadayyah think?” Jesse: How about, trying to adjust your schedule a teeny bit and see if you can make it? A little schedule helps us do more and do better. Parkinson’s Law (work expands to fill the time allowed for it) is in full effect, make hard end times for your work (5:30PM Class) or hard start times (after the 7am Class) so that you can hustle when it’s work time and not let it take over your whole day! This is just like the Goonies: “This time is our time.” Make it yours!
IF the whole reason your fitness is wavering is because the class times don’t work for you, SEND ME A TEXT OR AN EMAIL, I want to take care of you guys, it’s actually the reason I started the gym, went deep into debt, got gray hairs, worked 100’s of weekends, learn how to do things I’d never do if it were up to me etc. etc. etc!

30 Stationary Lunges “Hug Some weight if you can!”
30 Mountain Climbers
Warm-up:
Standing Qi Gong (Hug Knee to check, hug ankle and knee to chest, pull heel to butt, forward toe touches, over baby gate/under tree branch, Samson stretch.
3 Times through:
40 Jumping Jacks
20 Push-up Circles
20 Push-up Forward and Back Shrugs
-THEN-
Fiddle with the Lunge and figure out what to do, set up the kneeling GM area (get serious knee padding!), and off you go!
