Jamie is doing a suboptimal job of demonstrating this concept while overhead squatting. Perhaps his coach is doing a suboptimal job of informing his athlete about this during the workout…
Active shoulders in this situation (overhead squatting) would mean that Jamie’s neck would all but disappear amidst the vast piles of his muscly traps. He’d shrug “up” thereby supporting the bar better overhead.
