What we do here.
I get asked this all the time, on the phone, when new people come in, when someone who’s been coming for a while finally perks up and asks, what the heck is going on in here?
All we’re doing is increasing work capacity across broad time and modal domains by using a constantly varied protocol made up exclusively of functional movements executed at high intensity.
🙂 Yup, that’s all we’re doing.
Does that help anything? I love complicated verbiage. Love it.
We’re making people capable of doing more work in whatever time frame they’ve got to work within regardless of what they’re actually doing. We accomplish this by using only movements that allow us to move relatively large loads, long distances quickly in as wide a variety of groupings as we can think up. Oh, and it has to be challenging.
What this really means is that our aim is to create inside our members and clients the goal of being able, really able to do all the things people want to do:
Yard work, run, swim, play with grandkids, pick them up, do weekend warrior volleyball tourneys, paintball, real push-ups, do more than croquet at the family reunion, look great, feel great, laugh more and with better core activation (a more hearty jolly laugh), wear bathing suits well, have a chest and no gut, throw far, really actually try to compete against themselves and someone else without fear of injury or later bodily reprisals.
This is the good stuff, forget doing crunches and biceps curls, let’s get down to business, the business of moving and living!

CrossFit Kids Schedule Realized
Hear ye, hear ye.
The die is cast. Kids Classes will be from 5pm to 6pm Tuesday and Thursday. On Saturdays they will be from 2pm to 3pm.
I hope this clears up any confusion 🙂 We chose 5 to give people a chance to a) get here, and b) give the 6:00 Class a more definite start time.

Tell me that doesn’t just warm your heart!! A whole slew of good kids getting serious. I like it. We’re doing really fun workouts, parents must stay and watch laugh, point etc. All the for the better! When we get done your kids are like this…

Friendly Fifth of February!!
Ahh alliteration. It’s so good. Swinging supplely from suspended stationary supports. We had that last night, gymnastic people make me envious. But I digress.
F5F this is our first "let’s get Local’s Gym packed for a whole day with people" event. We’re going to have all our trainers here all day, workouts are free and they start whenever you’re ready. Pretty cool huh
The idea is to bring in your friends, family, co-workers, associated good people to get them exposed to what we have to offer, sweat, results, camaraderie 🙂
The workout will be kept a closely guarded secret 🙂 It’s appropriate for people of all walks of life though – not something crazy, no "Filthy 50" no "Murph" – you should be excited about that!
We also want to just give out a HUGE appreciation to everyone for already spreading the word about us! We’re up to 123 members as of Saturday the second. It’s simply fantastic to strive for excellence and believe in a vision and then to have other people really benefit and genuinely enjoy the process enough to tell their friends and family about it is basically freakin’ sweet. So thanks. Seriously.
Here’s one such fine fellows who was "recommended" he try Local’s Gym. He got tired. Deidra is obviously happy about this realization 🙂

And "meteorologists" everywhere. So remember that time when you were in like 4th Grade. It TOTALLY snowed enough to get the day off from school but the "supernintendint" or however you said it, didn’t say there was no school. So the next day when it was supposed to get worse they called it the day before because they were being all smart and proactive and steward-like. But then it totally didn’t snow more, in fact it all melted, so the day off from school was lame anyway and your parents were all bent out of shape.
I feel totally the same. Sorry to everyone who came last night to find the gym closed. I’m really not into having people not workout. That’s pretty much why I earned a few premature gray hairs and opened Local’s Gym, the best gym ever, was to have people workout, instead of not working out. So with that said, today is time to crank some serious watts!

If the "meteorologists" ever predict like a massive typhoon hurricane or something nuts, I’ll totally stay at the gym until that tilt up construction comes crashing down, it’ll be rad. I’ll be the captain going down with the ship 🙂

Snowy nastyness!
So it had to wait until AFTER Christmas 🙂
Monday, Closed at 3:30 it’s supposed to snow at 5:00pm – classes cancelled etc.
Jesse will open Tuesday AM because he’s got chains baby!!!
Deidra will close Tuesday night. There should be regular hours unless the conditions are insane. i.e. snowing by 5:00pm again which makes classes pretty silly in general.
We’ll post more about wednesday when we know what’s up.
