Sunday Double Ply Experience

Our own Tim Dahlstrom on Sunday went on to further his Bench Press prowess.  The easy opener of 380 in a single ply RageX followed by slapping on the DOUBLE ply RageX.

The first attempt was back stage on 425, came up quick and wouldn’t touch his chest.  Perfect.  We made the choice to go up to 451, which proved just a little too much…

Two attempts on 451, with the second being MUCH better than the first yet still unable to lock out the final portion of the lift.

Tim remains myopic in his ever-vigilant focus as his skill and strength are continually honed and sharpened by chains, bands, and board work.

Saturday's Strongman Event

YEAH! I won the title “Oregon’s Strongest Man”. My humility prevents me from being too proud – there were a whole bunch of Canadians who decided not to show and I know that Sam Pektol (of Pektol’s Strength Systems, serious) lives in Oregon. But it was a great day for me. I got PR’s on all the highland games events: Braemar Stone, Heavyweight over bar, light hammer throw and light weight for distance. Admittedly the lack of a trig box helped a lot for LWD 🙂

Oregon StrongmanI’m officially the sorest I’ve ever been… It’s rhabdo bad, seriously. 1/2 Hour full body in 60deg water I still felt hot when I got out 4.5 hours after the meet. Here’s day two and I couldn’t sit up in bed, I had to literally roll off. Hysterical!

Crossfit Accepts Us!!

Whoa!  I’m totally jacked right now.  We just got accepted into the Crossfit organization as an affiliate.  Totally awesome.  Crossfit style training is the best way to actually train for “general fitness” they stress different loading parameters (sets, reps, tempo) as well as a literal abundance of exercises and sports (gymnastics, powerlifting, calisthenics etc.) to achieve a broad and applicable fitness.

In the next few months a few of our trainers will have the opportunity to attend some certification classes through Crossfit.   More feedback on those for sure.  But for now expect a change-up in the membership and training model (fees and times) to accommodate this great advantage.

We’re the only Crossfit affiliate in Snohomish County!!!  If you’ve heard about this phenomenal training style or are trying to do it a “regular” gym you’ve got to come try it here.  We’ve got everything you need, not just the right tunes, the ropes, pull-up bars, med-balls, kettlebells, sleds, geez louise.

We're a threat…

The big boys already wanna fight with the little guy 🙁 I just received a letter today in Certified USPS Mail from “Uber Conglomo Gym LLC” that they intend to pursue “all legal remedies against [me] on the grounds that [I] have been and continue to be disloyal to [their] company and have violated the provisions of the Handbook”.

Their grounds for being upset with me are two-fold: 1) that I failed to notify my supervisor when I learned about any business opportunity related in any way to the fitness industry and 2) that I am taking proprietary information that I gained from working with them.

First, I don’t really think the idea of running your own speed, agility, force training and Crossfit Center is really a new idea that no one has had before their time with “Uber Comglomo Gym LLC”. Which in fact I did tell my Regional Fitness Manager when I was promoted from working only Sundays to the Club Fitness Manager that in fact my goal in 2 years was to own and run my own gym, sadly it took 3 years, ha.

Second, any information that I am taking from them I take in the negative, as in a great lesson in what NOT TO DO. For example as an owner, I should reward good trainers with benefits, paid time off, sick days, vacation days, money and time allowances to improve their skills in training – the list could go on for possibly ever…
